About Deb Kincade

My Experience as a Therapist

In 1997, I began my counseling career in Bethesda, Maryland at Suburban Hospital, working with adolescents and adults by providing individual and group therapy. After returning to my Jersey roots, I spent four years at Beacon Light Counseling Center in Watchung, NJ before beginning a 12-year career at Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare in Piscataway.

During my time at Rutgers, I had the opportunity to hold both clinical and leadership positions. My time at Rutgers strengthened my diagnostic and therapeutic skills as I provided crisis counseling, along with individual and group therapy. I was honored to receive the Master Clinician Award, which is given “in recognition of clinician excellence and dedication.” As a Program Coordinator and Program Manager I had the privilege of implementing cutting edge, evidence-based practices.

I specialize in the treatment of grief/loss, depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship issues. My areas of clinical expertise are:  Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, Trauma Informed Care and the Gottman Method. Check out my “services” pages to learn more about my areas of special interest.

Just For Fun

I love pottery and on my bucket list is to one day sit behind the potters wheel and learn to create my own. What about you, what’s on your bucket list? When I am not working, I enjoy relaxing on the beach or in nature while reading a good book, nourishing my soul and relationships. I love walking/hiking with my husband and dog and spending time with our adult sons.
